HL research - our view on this fund

Mark Dampier John Baker and Jonathan Ingram are currently finding attractive opportunities in sectors as diverse as house building; software & services; and media. They believe house builders such as Persimmon, Barratt Developments and Berkeley Group are benefiting from increased housing transactions and stronger than expected selling prices. They suggest these stocks are currently attractively valued and set to benefit from government initiatives to support first time buyers.

In the software & services sector John Baker and Jonathan Ingram favour Telecity. The company provides data centre facilities and services and is a key beneficiary of the explosion in cloud computing. Traditionally computer users saved files, such as music and pictures, directly on their computer. With cloud computing data is stored on servers and can be accessed by users on any device, including mobile phones and tablets, as well as traditional desktop computers.

In the Media sector the managers hold ITV. They believe the company continues to improve efficiency whilst the growing value of content such as Downton Abbey is helping to provide recurring growth.

This fund does not currently feature on the Wealth 150 list of our favourite funds in each sector.
