HL sector comment: Mixed Investment 20-60% Shares
Our view on this sector
These funds blend a range of different investments to create a core holding for a portfolio. Active managed funds tend to be higher risk, with cautious managed funds for more riskaverse investors. Balanced managed funds tend to sit between the two. Balanced and cautious funds will tend to invest in a mixture of shares, bonds and sometimes property, whereas active managed funds often have a wider investment remit. However, each fund will employ its own strategy, and therefore you might not always be comparing like for like. Investors should look carefully at any fund they wish to buy to ensure that its risk, mix of assets and investment approach suit their needs.
