BlackRock Gold & General – manager announcement

Graham Birch, the former manager of the BlackRock Gold & General Fund has decided that he will not be returning from his sabbatical. He went on a sabbatical in March 2009 and was due back this month.

Evy Hambro will continue managing the fund as he has since Graham Birch has been away. He is an experienced manager in his own right and has successfully managed a World Mining and World Gold Fund for BlackRock. He is also supported by a team of 15 specialists.

We believe Evy Hambro has done a remarkable job of the BlackRock Gold & General Fund since Graham Birch left last March. We do not believe investors need to take any action following this announcement. He is a manager we hold in high regard and the fund remains on the Wealth 150 list of our favourite funds in each sector.
