If you are unsure of the suitability of your investment please seek advice. Tax rules can change and the value of any benefits depends on individual circumstances.

AXA WF Framlington UK

Fund manager: Chris St John

News flow in the months following the UK's decision to leave the European Union has been consistently gloomy. However, despite the uncertainty surrounding Brexit, impending interest rate decisions or upcoming political elections, the UK market has continued to rise.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) also recently predicted the UK will see stronger growth than any of its peers in the G7 this year.

  • Chris St John is a proven, passionate manager cherry picking what he believes are the best investment opportunities from across the UK
  • The fund has the flexibility to invest across the spectrum of small, medium and large companies
  • The manager focuses on well-managed businesses with attractive growth prospects, where their value has been underestimated by other investors

Chris St John's track record

Using his growth style of investing, our analysis suggests he has added significant value through stock selection across companies of all sizes, including higher-risk smaller companies.

EdenTree Higher Income

Fund manager: Robin Hepworth

The Bank of England cut interest rates to 0.25% this summer, more than seven years since they were last reduced to 0.5%. Those who require an income from their capital are increasingly foregoing the security of cash and turning to riskier assets, such as shares and bonds.

Dividend-paying shares look especially appealing - they offer an attractive yield now, plus the potential for both income and capital to grow over time. But shares are one of the more volatile asset classes, and some prefer to reduce this volatility by adding exposure to less risky investments, such as bonds and cash.

  • The EdenTree Higher Income Fund is run by Robin Hepworth, an experienced manager with an exceptional track record spanning more than 30 years
  • He targets high quality businesses with strong balance sheets and good cash flows
  • The manager also blends exposure with corporate bonds to help smooth volatility for investors
  • The fund has an attractive historical yield of 4.3% (variable and not guaranteed, not an indicator of future performance)
