Fund Objective
Investment Objective The Sub-fund aims to outperform (after deduction of costs) the ICE Bank of America Merrill Lynch Sterling Non-Gilt over 10 Years Index by 0.5% per annum over rolling three-year periods. Investment Policy The Sub-fund will invest at least 80% in a portfolio of investment grade bonds issued by corporate issuers, public bodies and supranationals. The Sub-fund will be actively managed and is not constrained by the index. To the extent that the Sub-fund is not fully invested in such bonds, the Sub-fund may also invest in sub-investment grade bonds, government bonds, other transferable securities, money market instruments, deposits and cash. The bonds in which the Sub-fund invests will be denominated in sterling or denominated in other currencies and hedged back to sterling. The Sub-fund may use derivatives and currency forwards for both investment purposes and in the management of risk. No more than 10% in value of the property of the Fund will be invested in units of other collective investment schemes. More than 35% in value of the property of Baillie Gifford Investment Grade Long Bond Fund may be invested in Government and public securities (GAPS):- (a) issued by, or on behalf of, the same person provided that person is among the Government of the United Kingdom, of Northern Ireland, or of Eire, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Austria, Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland or the United States of America; the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the World Bank), the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Finance Corporation, or the Inter-American Development Bank; and/or (b) guaranteed by the same person, provided that that person is among the Governments referred to in paragraph (a) above. As at the date of this Prospectus no more than 35% in value of the property of Baillie Gifford Investment Grade Long Bond Fund is or has at any point been invested in such Government and public securities.
