Our view on the sector

Equity income funds are popular with investors. Most aim to generate a rising income, and increase the value of your original investment, over the long term. The income can be paid out, or reinvested in the fund to boost long-term growth. Different fund managers take different approaches to income investing. Some focus on larger companies that are seen to be more stable and have paid regular dividends for many years. Others invest in higher-risk small and medium-sized companies. Mark was one of the founding members of the Castlefield investment management business, having previously worked with the other co-founders within the institutional investment and fund management division of private bank, Brown Shipley. In addition to being the lead manager of the Castlefield Managed Multi-Asset Fund and the Castlefield UK Opportunities Fund, Mark is also responsible for managing segregated accounts for the firm's discretionary clients. A charter holder (Chartered Financial Analyst) of the CFA Institute as well as an individually Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), Mark has over 15 years industry experience.
