Alexander Darwall, manager of the Jupiter European Opportunities Trust, will be leaving Jupiter on 1 October 2019. He will leave the group in order to set up his own fund management business called Devon Equity Management, pending regulatory approval.

It is up to the independent board of the Jupiter European Opportunities Trust to decide who will manage the trust following Darwall’s departure. Following discussions with both Darwall and Jupiter, they are looking into appointing Devon Equity Management to run the portfolio.

They have asked their professional advisers to consult with shareholders and undertake the necessary due diligence into the new firm.

Jupiter have confirmed that it has been a long-held ambition of Darwall’s to launch his own investment management business and with the succession plans for handing over his open-ended funds to Mark Nichols confirmed, he felt this was the right time to pursue this. This has been done with Jupiter’s knowledge and agreement.
