  • iPad app update

From 14 October, we’ll be discontinuing the HL Live app for iPad

    Important notes

This article isn’t personal advice. If you’re not sure whether an investment is right for you please seek advice. If you choose to invest the value of your investment will rise and fall, so you could get back less than you put in.

    What's happening?

From 14 October our iPad app will no longer be available. You’ll still be able to access your account on an iPad by using a web browser such as Safari to visit the HL website.

Why are HL making this change?

We’re always reviewing our products and services to make sure they’re offering the best experience for clients, and we believe the iPad app is no longer the best way to make the most of your HL account. Clients have reported problems with using the app and told us they prefer the website experience and mobile app, both of which we are investing heavily in to improve even more.

Apple has also recently announced changes to their iPad operating system ‘iPadOS’ which will deliver ‘desktop-class browsing with Safari’. This will allow iPad users to use our website in exactly the same way you would if you were using your laptop or desktop computer and so the app is no longer as useful.

How can I access my account after 14 October?

From 14 October you can log in to your account as normal on our website. You’ll be able to take full advantage of all our services, including those that aren’t available on the iPad app such as live share prices and our full range of investment news and research.

If you prefer, you can also download the mobile app.

What will happen to my Watchlists I’ve created on the app?

If your Watchlist is linked to your account then you’ll be able to see them when you log in on the website or mobile app.

If your Watchlists aren’t linked to your account, log in to your account and you’ll be prompted to ‘attach Watchlists’. This will link your Watchlist to your account. If you don’t link your Watchlist to your account prior to the deadline it will be lost.

We know that removing the iPad app won’t be good news for those of you who use it regularly. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes but we’re confident the website and mobile app offer better ways to access, view and use your account.
