Details (last updated 13 May 2022)

Following the combination of BHP’s oil and gas business with Woodside Petroleum Limited, BHP plans to give shareholders some shares in Woodside Petroleum.

You’ll get 1 Woodside share for every 5.534 BHP shares held at the end of 24 May 2022.You’ll then have shares in both BHP and Woodside.

To receive and retain these Woodside shares you don’t need to do anything. The new Woodside shares are expected around 6 June 2022.

If the total of any BHP holdings you have is under 1,000 shares, you can elect to receive cash instead of Woodside shares. The amount you’ll receive will depend on the price the BHP agent sells the shares for, so you won’t know in advance what price you’ll get and it could be lower than if you sold the shares yourself. Cash from the sale is expected from 6 June 2022.

If you wish to elect for cash please do so below by noon Wednesday 25 May 2022

Please note if you elect for cash, but hold more than 1,000 BHP shares in total across your HL accounts at the end of 24 May 2022, then your election will be automatically rejected.

Full details of this event will be sent by either post or secure message. Please note that any instruction you give must be based on the full details provided in the letter/message and not on the summary information outlined above.

The London Stock Exchange does not disclose whether a trade is a buy or a sell so this data is estimated based on the trade price received and the LSE-quoted mid-price at the point the trade is placed. It should only be considered an indication and not a recommendation.

Trades priced above the mid-price at the time the trade is placed are labelled as a buy; those priced below the mid-price are sells; and those priced close to the mid-price or declared late are labelled 'N/A'.
