What is happening?

The BMO Managed Portfolio Trust is an investment trust with two classes of Shares, Growth Shares and Income Shares. Under the Articles of Association of the Company, Shareholders have the right to convert their Shares into the other class of Shares in the Trust (i.e Income to Growth or Growth to Income) once per year.

 

The terms of the Conversion allows Shareholders to elect to convert their Shares. Conversion instructions must be for a minimum of 1,000 Shares or, if lower, your full holding. The Conversion is also subject to a minimum and maximum limit set by the Board of Directors. For the 2020 Conversion Opportunity, the Board of BMO Managed Portfolio Trust has specified that conversion requests must be received by the Company for Shares with a minimum net value of assets in aggregate of £250,000. The maximum limit set by the Board of Directors of the Company is that no more than 10% of each Share class will be converted. If Conversion requests are received by the Company for less than the minimum value outlined above then the Board of Directors may cancel the Conversion. If Conversion requests are received for more than 10% of each Share Class then the requests will be scaled back on a pro-rata basis.


Any instruction to convert a holding into the other Share class must be received by our deadline of noon on Wednesday 30 September 2020. If no instruction is received by this time your holding will remain unchanged.

Objective

To provide capital growth for Growth shareholders in each case through investing principally in a diversified portfolio of investment companies. The Growth Portfolio invests in a diversified portfolio of at least 25 investment companies that have underlying investment exposures across a range of geographic regions and sectors. The Company invests principally in closed-ended investment companies which are listed on the Official List of the UK Listing Authority. The majority of the holdings of Company comprise equity investments although it is permitted to invest in other securities issued by investment companies.

Fee Structure

The management fee is 0.65% p.a. of the TA and reduce 0.325% p.a. on the any assets which are invested in other investment vehicles managed by the Manager. A performance fee up to 0.35% of TA may be payable p.a. and is equal to 10% of the monetary amount by which the adjusted total return of the relevant Portfolio over that year exceeds the total return on the FTSE All-Share Index.

Dividend Policy

Dividends are currently paid quarterly in October, January, April and July.

Manager Bio

Peter Hewitt is a Director and Fund Manager in Global Equities. Between 1983 and 1996 Peter was a Fund Manager with Ivory & Sime (later known as ISIS ), working initially in the US team and from 1986 in the UK team, where he was responsible for a variety of pension fund and investment trust clients. He joined the Group in 1999. Prior to BMO Global Asset Management, Peter spent two years as Head of UK Equities with Murray Johnstone. Peter holds a BA (Hons) in Economics from the Heriot Watt University .
