Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust (PREIT) is a self-managed and self-administered real estate investment trust (REIT). The Company is primarily engaged in the ownership, management, leasing, acquisition, redevelopment, and disposition of shopping malls. Its primary investment focus is on retail shopping malls located in the eastern half of the United States, primarily in the Mid-Atlantic region. The Company holds interests in its portfolio of properties through its operating partnership, PREIT Associates, L.P. It provides management, leasing, and real estate development services through two of its subsidiaries: PREIT Services, LLC, and PREIT-RUBIN, Inc. It owns interests in approximately 23 retail properties, of which approximately 22 are operating properties and one is a development property. The Company's 22 operating properties, which include 19 shopping malls and three other retail properties, have a total of approximately 18.3 million square feet and are in eight states.
