(Sharecast News) - Blackbird said on Wednesday that its browser-based collaborative video editing platform Elevate.io has entered into a partnership with Epidemic Sound, under which Epidemic Sound's music catalogue will be integrated directly into the platform.
The AIM-traded company said the integration was expected to be completed before the end of the first quarter, and would give Elevate.io users in-editor access to Epidemic Sound's catalogue of royalty-free music and sound effects.
It said the move was designed to simplify music licensing for creators and remove copyright and royalty concerns while enabling faster production of professional video content.
Epidemic Sound provides music and sound effects for creators, brands and media companies and owns all the rights to its catalogue.
Blackbird noted that content using Epidemic Sound's music generates more than three billion views per day and that the platform was used by global brands including GoPro, Coca-Cola, Apple and Levi's, as well as being integrated with services such as YouTube, TikTok, Adobe, Canva and DaVinci Resolve.
Blackbird executive chair Ian McDonough said industry analysts forecast the collaborative video editing market would reach $4.5bn by 2029.
"Elevate.io aims to lead this category by bringing world class video creation tools to our customers within a single, seamless experience," he said.
"Every creator knows that music not only embellishes their stories, it completes them."
McDonough added that partnering with Epidemic Sound to provide "an integrated, fluid experience" would enhance Elevate.io's value proposition for its users.
"This partnership is also an early validation of our unique approach to collaborative video editing by the industry's leading music and soundtrack service for creators and brands."
At 1223 GMT, shares in Blackbird were up 3.33% at 2.17p.
