How to edit a Direct Debit

If you want to change the amount you add by Direct Debit each month, or the things you invest in, here's how to do it.

Before you start

  • You will need your login details to hand. If you have not yet set these up by registering for online access, you can register here. 
  • Depending on when you go to make changes, the changes you can make to your next contribution might be limited. You will always be able to change the following month’s savings. 
  • If you are trying to change a Direct Debit for a Junior ISA, please call us on 0117 980 9950. 

How to edit a Direct Debit on the website

  1. Log in online to see your accounts.  
  2. Select the HL account your Direct Debit is set up in, e.g., ‘Stocks & Shares ISA’.  
  3. Select the ‘Monthly savings’ tab from the options above your account overview.  
  4. Select ‘Change’ either on the current month, or future months.   
  5. To add new funds or shares to your monthly savings, select ‘Add fund’ or ‘Add Share’.   
  6. To change the monthly amount going into an investment, edit the amount in the box to the right of the fund or share.  
  7. To remove an investment, set the amount in the box to 0.00.  
  8. Once you have made all your changes, select ‘Confirm Changes’.

How to edit a Direct Debit on the mobile app

  1. Select ‘Accounts’ in the bottom left corner.  
  2. Log in using your chosen verification method.  
  3. Select the HL account your Direct Debit is set up in, e.g., ‘Stocks & Shares ISA’.  
  4. Select the menu icon in the top right-hand corner.  
  5. Select ‘Regular investing’.  
  6. To change the total Direct Debit amount, select ‘Edit’ next to the figure at the top of the screen, and enter the new amount you want to pay in each month.  
  7. Select ‘Continue’.  
  8. To add, remove, or change what you invest in, select ‘Edit’ to the right of your investment instructions.   
  9. To add a new investment, select ‘Add an investment’.   
  10. To remove an investment, swipe the investment left, and select ‘Delete’.   
  11. Once you have made all your changes, select ‘Confirm my investments’. 

What happens next

You will see confirmation of your edited Direct Debit plan. 

Changes will then either take effect next month, or the month after that, depending on when you make them.
