Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. is a supplier of aggregates and other building materials. The Company supplies aggregates (crushed stone, sand and gravel) through its network of around 500 quarries, mines, and distribution yards in 29 states, Canada and The Bahamas. It also provides other building materials, namely, cement, ready mixed concrete, asphalt, and paving services. Its heavy-side building materials are used in infrastructure, nonresidential and residential construction projects. Its aggregates are also used in agricultural, utility, and environmental applications and as railroad ballast. Its building materials business includes two segments: East Group and West Group. The East Group comprises the East and Southwest divisions. The West Group comprises the Central and West divisions. The Specialties segment produces high-purity natural and synthetic magnesia-based products, including magnesium sulfate, magnesium oxide and magnesium hydroxide, used in various applications.
