Strathcona Resources Ltd. is a Canada-based pure play heavy oil producers with operations focused on thermal oil and enhanced oil recovery. The Company operates through three business segments, which include Cold Lake, Lloydminster Thermal, and Lloydminster Conventional. The Cold Lake segment includes the development and production of bitumen in the Cold Lake region of Northern Alberta. The Lloydminster Thermal segment includes the development and production of heavy oil through thermal steam-assisted gravity drainage methods in Southwest Saskatchewan. The Lloydminster Conventional segment includes the development and production of heavy oil through both conventional and enhanced oil recovery initiatives primarily in Southeast Alberta and Southwest Saskatchewan. The Company’s property, plant and equipment include oil and natural gas properties. It also engages independent reserve engineers to estimate oil and natural gas reserves using estimates, assumptions and engineering data.
