Do I need advice to use the Retirement Planner?
The Retirement Planner can be used without personal advice if you understand your options and are happy to make your own investment decisions.
The variable income in the Retirement Planner is provided via drawdown in the HL SIPP. This is a higher risk and more complex option than an annuity. Income is not secure and you are responsible for choosing where the fund is invested. If investments don’t go the way you want, or if the pension pot is depleted by excessive income withdrawals, your fund value and therefore future income will be reduced. If you are unsure whether drawdown is suitable for your circumstances we strongly suggest you should take advice - we have a team of financial advisers who can help.
Pension Wise, the Government’s pension guidance service, provides a free impartial service to help you understand your options at retirement. It’s available at www.pensionwise.gov.uk, by calling 0800 138 3944, or face to face.
