What is Financial Transaction Tax (FTT)?

Financial Transaction Tax is a charge, usually a fraction of a percent, on the sale and/or purchase of a security, such as shares or bonds.

Some European countries, such as France, Italy and Spain, apply a Financial Transaction Tax when investors purchase certain shares.

Check current rates

You can check whether a Financial Transaction Tax will need to be paid on certain shares by searching for the name of the stock, selecting the ‘Costs’ tab on the share factsheet and then clicking on ‘Investment charges’.
