Over the summer, HL’s Flexible Benefits team took the opportunity to use their volunteering hours to do their bit for the local Bristol community.

Across several days, the team packed boxes of in-date, surplus food for children who need it most as part of the FareShare South West program.

The program aims to help save food from going to waste by redistributing it to people in need across the South West.

Flexible Benefits Manager, Ben Warr, commented:

"It was great to give something back to the community. Getting away from my desk for the day really benefitted my mental health and it was fantastic to work physically alongside my colleagues for the first time in a while – socially-distanced of course. The team really took pride in the fact that we were able to give something back, and we’re looking forward to volunteering again soon."

As one of the largest employers in Bristol, HL colleagues are dedicated to doing the right thing and giving their time to help charities and other good causes. We’ve introduced the HL Volunteering Scheme to allow employees the chance to volunteer their time, skills and experience to contribute to their community.

See our Community page for more information on our corporate social responsibility.
