Dividend Policy

Hargreaves Lansdown has a progressive ordinary dividend policy. The Board considers the dividend on a total basis, with the intention of maintaining the ordinary payout ratio at around 65% across the market cycle and looking to return excess cash to shareholders in the form of a special dividend. Any such return will be determined according to market conditions and after taking account of the Group’s growth, investment and regulatory capital requirements at the time.

On 8 February 2017 the Group announced its interim results and at the same time declared an interim ordinary dividend of 8.60 pence per share. The dividend was paid on 30 March to all shareholders on the register at the close of business on 10 March 2017.

On 15 August 2017 the Group announced its final results and at the same time declared a final dividend of 20.40 pence per share. Subject to shareholder approval at the 2017 Annual General Meeting, the dividend will be paid on 20 October 2017 to all shareholders on the register at the close of business on 29 September 2017.
