American Electric Power Company, Inc. is an electric public utility holding company. It operates and maintains the electricity transmission system and distribution lines to deliver power. Its segments include Vertically Integrated Utilities, Transmission and Distribution Utilities, AEP Transmission Holdco, and Generation & Marketing. Vertically Integrated Utilities segment is engaged in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity for sale to retail and wholesale customers. Transmission and Distribution Utilities segment is engaged in the transmission and distribution of electricity for sale to retail and wholesale customers. AEP Transmission Holdco segment is engaged in the development, construction, and operation of transmission facilities. Generation & Marketing segment conducts marketing, risk management and retail activities. It is also an electricity producer with nearly 29,000 megawatts (MW) of generating capacity, including about 6,100 MW of renewable energy.
