How to choose funds
Some clients come to us knowing exactly what they want to invest in, others want our ideas to help them decide, while some prefer more help.
All funds
We offer a choice of over 2,500 funds – more funds than any other major investment supermarket – as well as comprehensive tools and information so that you can conduct your own research.
The Wealth 150
The Wealth 150 is a shorter list containing what we believe are the best funds in each sector.
It is the product of rigorous mathematical analysis (quantitative research) and thousands of hours of fund manager interviews which allow us to make detailed assessments of their investment strategies (qualitative research).
Some brokers publish lists based on past performance. We prefer to dig deeper to identify the funds we think are most likely to perform well in future.
Master Portfolios
For investors seeking more guidance, we have produced five Master Portfolios, each for a different type of investor, with different time horizons and attitudes to risk.
These Master Portfolios are designed to provide ideas - they are not advice, and potential investors should look carefully at the fund choices and see if they fit their own requirements.
We have chosen funds which we believe dovetail with each other, and suggested additional funds to provide more diversification for those with larger portfolios.
Hargreaves Lansdown Multi-Manager Funds
For those who wish to go one step further and leave the choice of underlying funds entirely to our experts, we offer a range of Multi-Manager funds.
For first time investors in need of a simple way to invest in the stock market or for more experienced investors looking for a broadly based fund around which to group specialised holdings, multi-manager funds offer a broad, managed portfolio of funds through a single investment.
Each multi-manager fund is managed with a different aim allowing investors to choose a fund which best matches their objectives and then pass the choice and management of the underlying investments to our experts.
There are five funds from which to choose:
Financial advice
Those with more complex needs, or who do not wish to make their own investment decisions could consider our advisory services. These are available for clients with portfolios worth more than £100,000.
Our financial practitioners will review your approach to investments and pensions and discuss your financial objectives. They will then recommend a suitable course of action. We offer a range of advisory services, from one-off initial help building a portfolio, to ongoing portfolio management.
Important information
Please remember that the value of investments, and any income from them, can fall as well as rise so you could get back less than you invest. If you are unsure of the suitability of your investment please seek advice.
