(Sharecast News) - Friday looked set to be a quiet end to a busy week, with little in the way of UK corporate or macro news due.
A third-quarter assets under management update is due from global investment manager Ninety One, along with a half-year trading update from housebuilder MJ Gleeson.
In the US, quarterly results are due from PNC Financial Services, State Street and M&T Bank.
There will be a few data releases of note in the US, with industrial production and the NAHB housebuilding survey out.
Oxford Economics said: "We expect the NAHB homebuilder sentiment index to edge up one point in January, with sentiment getting a boost from a further decline in mortgage rates.
"However, the index will still be at a level consistent with weak housing market conditions."
