(Sharecast News) - Ten-pin bowling chain Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday held earnings guidance and said full year revenue would hit a record £261m as a strong performance in Canada offset the UK's hottest ever summer which kept people at home.

Like-for-like sales in the UK fell 5.6% in the second half but rose 2.7% in Canada where total revenue rose 9% for the year to £41.7m. Group sales on the same basis rose 1% for the year to September 30.

Annual profits are still expected to hit £48m to £53.2m according to a company compiled consensus of analysts' forecasts.

"Demand remained resilient during the extended period of record hot weather in the UK, supported by our disciplined cost and pricing model, and our operational initiatives to drive footfall," said chief executive Stephen Burns.

"Our affordable, inclusive proposition has continued to ensure we are well-positioned in an environment where consumers are closely watching what they spend."
