(Sharecast News) - Rentokil Initial has named Rafael Carrasco as chief executive of its North American operations, it was confirmed on Thursday.

The blue chip, which provides pest control, hygiene and wellbeing services, said Carrasco would take up the role on 3 August, replacing interim chief executive Alain Moffroid. He is joining from Houston-based WM, formerly Waste Management Inc, where he was most recently president of the healthcare solutions division.

Previously chief commercial officer, Moffroid - who will leave Rentokil at the end of 2027 following a transition period - took over the role from Brad Paulsen in January 2025, who left after just a year in charge.

North America is the Crawley-based firm's largest region, accounting for around 62% of group revenues. Its position in the highly-competitive market was boosted when it acquired US rival Terminix for $6.7bn in 2022, but it struggled to integrate the business.

Newly-installed group chief executive Mike Duffy said: "[Carrasco] has an impressive track record in field-based, recurring service operations, making him the ideal leader to drive our North American business forward.

"I would also like to thank Alain for his strong leadership in North America, where we continue to execute our growth plan, and his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition."

Duffy, a US citizen, succeeded long-serving chief executive Andy Ransom when he retired in March. He is based in North America.

As at 1030 BST, shares in Rentokil were largely unchanged at 469.3p.
