(Sharecast News) - Thursday sees the releases of a slew of UK economic data, along with updates from the likes of housebuilder Taylor Wimpey, recruiter Robert Walters and homeware retailer Dunelm.

Also on the corporate front, asset manager Ashmore and pub group Fuller, Smith & Turner are due to release updates, along with Brooks Macdonald.

As far as Dunelm is concerned, UBS expects second-quarter revenue of 517m, up 5.5%, compared to Visible Alpha consensus of 514m, up .8%.

"We are confident in Dunelm's ability to continue to drive market share gains and +5.3% topline growth for FY26e," UBS said. "We forecast +9.0% profit growth for FY26e (versus Visible Alpha consensus +5.5%), weighted towards H2."

On the UK macro front, the latest GDP, construction, manufacturing and industrial output figures are due.

Kathleen Brooks, research director at XTB, said: "Monthly GDP for November is expected to pick up to 0.1% from a -0.1% reading in October. A downside surprise could lead to an increase in fears that a recession is coming to the UK, which could weigh on UK shares, especially small caps, which have so far remained resilient to UK growth fears.

"The pound could also come under pressure. It was the second weakest performer in the G10 FX space last week and fell more than 1% versus the USD. It slipped below $1.34 and tested the 200-day SMA. It has bounced above this level as the dollar has weakened on Monday, but the monthly GDP report could still have a negative impact on sterling later this week."

Across the pond, attention will turn to quarterly results from Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and BlackRock as the US earnings season continues.
