(Sharecast News) - Telecommunications giant Vodafone said on Monday that its African subsidiary, Vodacom Group, had confirmed Vodafone Egypt's participation in a multiyear investment programme led by Egypt's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.
Vodafone said the initiative covers spectrum in the 1,800MHz and 3,500MHz bands, as well as the renewal of existing 2,600MHz spectrum. Payment will be made over four annual instalments, starting with $100m in FY26. Vodafone said the additional spectrum would provide a meaningful boost to network capacity.
In the first phase of the programme, Vodafone Egypt has secured 2 x 10MHz of 1,800MHz spectrum. The next phase of the programme was expected to begin in FY28 and run through to FY32, during which the authorities plan to release 3,500MHz spectrum and renew the 2,600MHz allocation.
