(Sharecast News) - Wall Street stocks closed higher on Friday, with all three major indices closing out the week at least 1% higher.

At the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.47% at 44,901.92, while the S&P 500 advanced 0.40% to 6,388.64, and the Nasdaq Composite saw out the session 0.24% firmer at 21,108.32.

The Dow closed 208.01 points higher on Friday, reclaiming a decent chunk of the previous session's losses, while the S&P 500 posted its fifth straight record close.

Despite Thursday's losses, the blue-chip Dow Jones still managed to wrap up the week in the green, as did the other two major indices, driven by solid earnings from several big-name firms and positive trade headlines.

Trump said on Friday that he expects the US to strike more deals before next week's 1 August tariff deadline. Trump's comments come as European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen revealed that she will meet with Trump in Scotland on Sunday to discuss trade.

On the macro front, US durable goods orders fell 9.3% month-on-month to $311.84bn in June, according to the Census Bureau, taking a bite out of May's upwardly revised 16.5% jump. The biggest declines were seen in orders for transport equipment, down 22.4% year-on-year, and capital goods, which were down 22.2%.

In the corporate space, chipmaker Intel traded slightly higher after posting Q2 revenues that topped analysts' estimates, while Paramount shares were also in the green after the Federal Communications Commission gave its $8.0bn merger with Skydance Media the go-ahead.
