(Sharecast News) - Andy Burnham must overhaul Shabana Mahmood's migration reforms or risk overstretching social care and fuelling far-right sentiment, the TUC general secretary, Paul Nowak, has warned. Speaking ahead of the TUC's annual congress in Brighton next week, Nowak welcomed the "sense of optimism" around Burnham's fledgling government, but he urged the PM to act in a series of areas, including migration and the cost of living. - Guardian

The head of the air traffic control provider Nats has been given a week to report back on the reasons for a technical failure that grounded thousands of flights, as the transport secretary said she did "not believe the issue was unavoidable". Heidi Alexander said on Tuesday she had also commissioned an independent review by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) into the latest Nats meltdown, which severely disrupted travel for hundreds of thousands of passengers. - Guardian

Keeping the triple lock on pensions will cost an extra £20bn a year by 2050, according to a leading think tank. As calls grow for the guarantee to be scrapped, the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) said the Government's pledge to increase state pension payments by at least 2.5pc a year was already costing taxpayers £16bn more every year compared to a simple earnings link. - Telegraph

The owner of Autoglass is considering one of Europe's biggest stock market flotations in years as investors in the windscreen repair company look to cash in their investments. D'Ieteren Group, a Belgian conglomerate, confirmed on Wednesday that it was "evaluating strategic options regarding the minority shareholder stakes" in the world's largest windscreen replacement and repair business, including a potential listing. - The Times

The cost of the expansion of Heathrow could break the business model for low-cost airlines if they are forced to pick up the bill, airline executives have told MPs. The cost per passenger as a result of the planned £33 billion third runway at Heathrow is expected to be a similar figure to the cost of charges at Amsterdam's Schipol airport, easyJet's chief commercial officer, Sophie Dekkers, told MPs on the transport committee. - The Times
