(Sharecast News) - Avacta Therapeutics said on Monday that it had made strong progress across its oncology pipeline in the first half of 2026, including the start of clinical work for its second-generation preCISION drug candidate AVA6103.

The AIM-traded clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company said the first patient was treated in March in the FOCUS-01 Phase 1 trial of AVA6103, following IND clearance in January.

It also reported updated Phase 1a and 1b data for AVA6000 showing encouraging early efficacy signals in salivary gland cancers, while regulators lifted the lifetime maximum dose limit after favourable cardiac safety findings.

Chief executive Christina Coughlin said the company's data continued to validate its preCISION platform and reinforced its value for patients and potential partners.

Avacta said it had raised 41.5m over the past 18 months, extending its cash runway into early 2027, with initial AVA6103 clinical data expected in late H2 2026.

At 0922 BST, shares in Avacta Group were up 0.82% at 73.6p.
