(Sharecast News) - Conroy Gold said on Monday that step-out drilling at the eastern zone of its Clontibret gold deposit had increased confidence in continuity towards the Corcaskea area in Ireland.

The AIM-traded explorer said drill hole CGC-25-005 intersected nine gold zones, including 4.8 metres at 1.3 grams per tonne gold from 35.2 metres, containing 0.9 metres at 3.1 grams per tonne, and one metre at 2.7 grams per tonne from 214.5 metres.

The hole was drilled about 150 metres north of a historic drill hole and intersected several of the same interpreted lodes.

Chairman John Sherman said the results provided "further evidence of the scale and persistence of the gold system" as the company evaluates the potential linkage between the Clontibret resource and Corcaskea.

Clontibret contains a JORC resource of 517,000 ounces of gold at 2.0 grams per tonne.

At 0806 BST, shares in Conroy Gold and Natural Resources were down 2.56% at 9.5p.
