(Sharecast News) - Eco Animal Health announced the launch of Ecovaxxin MS, its poultry vaccine against Mycoplasma synoviae, across the European Union on Thursday, marking the first product from its proprietary research and development pipeline to reach commercial market entry.
The AIM-traded animal health company said the vaccine provides active immunisation for future layer and breeder chickens from four weeks of age, helping reduce air-sac and foot-pad lesions and egg production losses linked to M. synoviae infections, which can cut egg production in affected layers by 5% to 10%.
Chief commercial officer Andrew Buglass said Ecovaxxin MS was "a best-in-class vaccine" backed by Eco's EU commercial infrastructure and distribution partners, while the company said it had access to EU markets representing more than 220 million layer birds annually and was progressing registration in the US, Latin America and Asia.
At 1048 BST, shares in Eco Animal Health Group were up 1.15% at 93.56p.
