(Sharecast News) - Midwich Group announced the appointment of Adam Councell as its chief financial officer and an executive board director on Monday, with effect from 2 March, as the company prepared for the departure of its current finance chief at the end of February.

Councell was most recently CFO of Marlowe from 2021 until its takeover by Mitie Group in August last year.

Before that, he served as group finance director at Fuller, Smith & Turner between 2019 and 2021 and at Restore from 2012 to 2019, and earlier spent nine years in senior finance roles at Rentokil Initial.

"We are delighted that Adam will join the board as chief financial officer in March," said Andrew Herbert, non-executive chairman.

"Adam has extensive financial, plc and leadership experience gained across B2B services and has a proven track record of delivering growth through both organic and acquisition-led strategies.

"I would also like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the board, to thank Stephen Lamb for everything that he has done for Midwich since joining in 2018 and we wish him every success in his new role."

The AIM-traded group said the appointment followed an orderly handover process, with Stephen Lamb due to step down as group finance director and leave the board on 28 February.

Midwich said it would provide a further update on Councell's appointment in due course in line with the AIM rules.

"I am thrilled to be joining Midwich at such an exciting time," Councell said.

"It is a great business with an excellent market position and a strong culture.

"I am looking forward to working with Stephen and the team in the coming months as we look to execute the compelling growth strategy."

At 1135 GMT, shares in Midwich Group were up 0.15% at 195.3p.
