(Sharecast News) - Friday will be pretty quiet overall, but on the macro calendar, UK retail sales and public sector net borrowing figures for July will in the spotlight.

Eurozone and UK PMIs will also be in focus. Neil Wilson, UK investor strategist at Saxo Markets, said: "Flash surveys for manufacturing and services activity will shape the market's view of the global economy.

"We will pay close attention to the price components to watch for signs of a buildup of inflationary pressures."

On the corporate front, half-year results are due from energy services provider Hunting. Bloomberg consensus is for first-half revenue of $458.5m and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of $58.7m.
