(Sharecast News) - Construction group Galliford Try announced on Monday that it has been appointed to a £3bn public sector building programme in the West Midlands.

The latest iteration of the Constructing West Midlands Framework covers public sector buildings for local authorities, in areas including education, housing, health and leisure.

Galliford Try, which has been appointed to the Major Works lot, said it will work on projects worth "in excess of £10m".

Boss Bill Hocking said the work would deliver "much-needed public infrastructure for communities across the region".

Despite the news, Galliford Try shares were down 2.4% at 692p by 1446 BST, pulling back after a strong rally in recent weeks following strong annual results and news of a share buyback programme.
