(Sharecast News) - GE Aerospace has announced plans to buy aerospace and defence components manufacturer Consolidated Precision Products for $11.75bn from private investment firms Warburg Pincus and Berkshire Partners.

Ohio-based CPP, which makes complex super alloy, titanium, aluminum, magnesium and steel castings for things like aircraft engines, gas turbines and military systems, will support "strong demand" across commercial engines, aftermaket and defence, according to GE Aerospace.

The blue chip's H Lawrence Culp Jr, chair and chief executive, said the combination of GE Aerospace's technology and 'Flight Deck' operating model with CPP's manufacturing experience should allow it to "capacity, improve performance and accelerate new engine technologies for the current fleet and next-generation platforms".

He added: "We will leverage FLIGHT DECK to drive process and quality improvements, supporting higher output, and integrate design and manufacturing to bring engine technologies to market faster for our customers. These improvements also will ensure manufacturing readiness to deploy enhanced airfoil technology for a more reliable ramp."

The transaction price, which will be financed by $7bn in cash and the rest new debt, values CPP at 18 times 2027 estimates EBITDA when including expected net synergies.
