(Sharecast News) - Visual content marketplace Getty Images has announced a new multi-year agreement with OpenAI, which will see the image platform's licensed content libraries within ChatGPT, causing shares to soar on Monday.
The companies said the use of Getty Images' content will "enhanc[e] the richness of visual responses" within ChatGPT.
"Highquality, licensed visual content makes AIpowered search and discovery more useful and more trustworthy," said Getty's chief executive Craig Peters.
"This partnership with OpenAI reflects a shared recognition of that, and together we will deliver richer visual experiences to ChatGPT users."
Getty Images shares more than doubled on the news, rising 115% to $1.30 by 1607 BST.
Getty's market value has plummeted over recent years due to concerns about the impact of genAI on its business model, with the stock closing last week at just $0.61, less than half of the $1.30 level seen at the start of 2026 and the $5-6 mark seen just between 2023 and 2024.
