(Sharecast News) - UK-based beauty company Revolution Beauty said on Thursday that it had delivered a markedly stronger first half performance as its turnaround gathered momentum, with the firm expecting to report adjusted underlying earnings of at least £2m, compared with a £12.5m loss a year earlier.

Revolution Beauty said revenues were broadly in line with last year, despite the prior period being flattered by heavy discounting and sales of discontinued ranges, while gross margins improved by more than 10 percentage points.

The AIM-listed firm said trading in the second half, which was typically the stronger period, was showing encouraging signs, with order books indicating that recent changes to products and ranges were resonating with retail partners. Online sales, described as a good forward indicator, rose 22% yearonyear in the first half.

Looking ahead, Revolution said it was currently trading "comfortably ahead of market expectations".

Revolution Beauty will publish interim results for the six months ended 31 August on 27 October.

As of 1140 BST, Revolution shares were down 2.80% at 472.20p.
