(Sharecast News) - Food and beverage outlets operator SSP has tapped Andrew Martin to take over as chairman, with effect from 1 June.

SSP said on Thursday that Martin, currently the chair of Intertek, will succeed Carolyn Bradley, who has served as interim chair since 23 January. Bradley will remain on SSP's board as a senior independent director.

The FTSE 250-listed group also noted that Martin was previously chairman of Hays, and had also served as a nonexecutive director of EasyJet and John Lewis, where he chaired the audit and risk committee.

Bradley said: "After a thorough and rigorous recruitment and selection process, I am delighted to welcome Andrew as chair designate of SSP. He brings extensive experience in finance, execution, governance and corporate stewardship, along with a proven track record of board leadership.

"The board believes his expertise will be invaluable as we pursue opportunities to accelerate performance and create shareholder value."

As of 0900 GMT, SSP shares were down 0.74% at 188.80p.
