(Sharecast News) - On Tuesday, first-half results from Irn-Bru maker AG Barr and Card Factory are due, along with UK consumer credit, mortgage approvals and net lending data for August.

Investors will also eye preliminary results from Close Brothers, while in the US, quarterly results from Carnival, CarMax and Concentrix will be out.

The latest policy announcement from the Reserve Bank of Australia will be announced, amid expectations it will hike interest rates by 25 basis points to 4.60%.

Danske Bank said the move is almost fully priced in by markets, which expect a total of two to three more hikes over the coming year.

"With the policy rate already at a relatively high level, we think risks are skewed towards the RBA ultimately delivering less than that, even if tomorrow's hike is a done deal," it said.

Neil Wilson, UK investor strategist at Saxo Markets, said: "The upside surprise to the July CPI inflation reports combined with the solid Q2 GDP report argues for a clear case for the central bank to raise rates. The RBA will also likely signal a willingness to tighten further but refrain from giving a clear intention to raise again in either November or December."
