(Sharecast News) - Wall Street trading got off to a mostly positive start on Friday after a strong session on Thursday left the S&P 500 and Nasdaq on course for weekly gains.

As of 1520 BST, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.10% at 52,540.87, while the S&P 500 advanced 0.16% to 7,555.88 and the Nasdaq Composite came out of the gate 0.01% softer at 26,203.28.

The Dow opened 53.46 points higher on Friday, extending gains recorded in the previous session as a drop in oil prices eased concerns about the renewed conflict in the Middle East.

Stocks continued to buoyed by cooling oil prices on Friday, helped by claims from Donald Trump that Iran had "called to make a deal". Officials from Qatar and Pakistan also told MS Now that they were working to bring Washington and Tehran back to the negotiating table, while a White House official said the US and Iran would continue technical talks despite fresh air strikes from both sides. The comments followed Trump's declaration earlier in the week that the ceasefire between the two countries was over.

Traders were also locked on to the debut of SK Hynix on the Nasdaq early on Friday after the South Korean chipmaker raised $26.5bn in its New York share offering, marking the largest US listing by a foreign company. The Nvidia supplier sold 177.9m American depositary shares at $149 each, with each ADS representing onetenth of a Seoullisted common share. Trading was expected to begin on Friday.

Elsewhere in the corporate space, Delta Air Lines posted higher secondquarter revenue and adjusted earnings on Friday, but shares ticked lower in premarket action as investors focused on rising costs and margin pressure rather than the headline beat.

Delta reported adjusted earnings of $1.56 per share, ahead of the $1.48 expected, while adjusted revenues rose to $17.67bn, slightly above forecasts. Net income, on the other hand, fell 25% yearonyear to $1.6bn, though operating revenue climbed 19% to $19.76bn. Delta's Trainer refinery also delivered an 83% jump in revenues to $2.09bn.

No major data points were slated for release on Friday.
