Make an employer contribution to your SIPP

What you need to remember

  • The HL SIPP is designed for people comfortable choosing their own investments. The value of all investments can rise and fall, so although there’s the potential for growth, you could also get back less than you invest. If you’re not sure which investments are right for you, please ask us about financial advice. There’s no personal advice on our website.

  • You usually need to be at least 55 before you can access the money in your pension (rising to 57 from 2028). Pension and tax rules can change, and benefits will depend on your circumstances.

How to top up by debit card

The first time you make a debit card payment using your company debit card, you’ll need to call our helpdesk on 0117 980 9926. We can register your company and arrange the employer contribution in one call.

Once your company is registered you can make future payments online, or call us.

To do this you need to be authorised to make payments on behalf of the company. The maximum payment that can be taken by debit card is £99,999. You can make multiple payments if you want to invest more. To avoid large payments being blocked, please inform your bank ahead of time.

How to top up by bank transfer

If your company isn’t registered with Companies House in the UK, please call us on 0117 980 9926 first. Payments should be made from an account in the company’s name. If we do not receive the below details of the contribution, we will return the funds to source.

What you will need

  • HL client number or National Insurance number

  • Scheme type: Self-Invested Personal Pension

  • Scheme administrator name: Hargreaves Lansdown, 1 College Square South, Bristol, BS1 5HL

  • HMRC registration number: 00616238RC

Details we'll need from you

Please complete the following form: HL SIPP Contribution by Bank Transfer

Make sure you have the following details to hand:

  • HL client number or National Insurance number

  • The company name and registered address

  • The name of the company account from which the payment is being made

  • The amount being transferred

  • Confirmation that this is an employer contribution (not a personal contribution)

If we cannot verify the source of funds, we’ll request further evidence before we apply the money to your account. Once we’ve received the contribution details and payment, we’ll process your payment and send you confirmation. The contribution will usually show in your SIPP by the close of business on the day of receipt, but please be aware it can take up to two working days. If you wish to use the contribution to place a trade straight away, we suggest you make a debit card payment.
