(Sharecast News) - Avacta Therapeutics said on Wednesday it had appointed healthcare executive Patrick Vink to its board as non-executive deputy chairman and senior independent director.

Vink is currently chairman of Arch Biopartners, Micreos Group, Secura Bio and F2G, and sits on the board of Spero Therapeutics.

Chief executive Christina Coughlin said Vink brought "considerable sector experience in Pharma partnering, financing, and operations" as Avacta advances its preCISION oncology platform and continues partnership discussions.

Vink said upcoming data, including first clinical results from AVA6103, "could be transformative for Avacta."

At 1202 BST, shares in Avacta Group were down 1.68% at 69.53p.
