(Sharecast News) - US retail sales increased 0.6% month-on-month in June, according to the Census Bureau, coming in ahead of market expectations of a 0.1% gain.
The largest increases were seen in sales at miscellaneous store retailers, and of motor vehicles & parts, up 1.8% and 1.2%, respectively.
Going the other way, sales declined 0.1% at both furniture and electronics stores.
Meanwhile, sales excluding food services, auto dealers, building materials stores and gasoline stations were up 0.5%, following a downwardly revised 0.2% rise and ahead of the 0.3% increase pencilled-in by economists.
