(Sharecast News) - Budget carrier Wizz Air reported a sharp rise in August traffic on Wednesday, with the airline carrying 8.70m passengers, up 25.9% yearonyear.
Wizz Air said August's increase came as capacity increased 24.8% to 9.10m seats and load factor improved to 95.6%, up 0.8 percentage points year-on-year.
The FTSE 250-listed firm noted that seat growth moderated from July's 30.4% pace but remained in line with guidance for hightwenties expansion through the September quarter.
Wizz Air also highlighted recent developments, including the announcement of a new Spanish base at Santiago de Compostela, where one aircraft will be stationed from February 2027 to operate five domestic and two international routes.
Additionally, Wizz Air said it had rolled out a major upgrade to its mobile app, offering clearer guidance, realtime flight information and streamlined service management ahead of departure.
As of 1025 BST, Wizz shares were up 0.75% at 1,069p.
