Before opening an account, you should:
Check you understand ISA rules
The annual ISA allowance is £20,000. You can have ISAs with more than one provider in a tax year. ISA and tax rules can change and their benefits depend on your circumstances.
Be free from significant debt
Other than a mortgage or student loan, you should pay off significant debt before investing. In addition, you should have 3 to 6 months of essential expenses in cash for emergencies.
Be comfortable choosing investments
There are ready-made options if you need help to get started.
