Schroders has announced that Andrew Evans will step back from his role as co-manager of the Schroder Income fund and leave the business.

Tom Grady will replace Andrew Evans as co-manager alongside existing manager Nick Kirrage.

Tom Grady joined Schroders in September 2015 after beginning his career in accountancy. At Schroders he initially joined the Prime UK Equity team and has spent his time analysing UK companies. Grady joined the Value team in January 2025 before being recently promoted as co-manager of the Income fund.

Our View

We have a positive view of Andrew Evans as an investor and are disappointed to see him leave.

Grady has a decade of relevant experience analysing UK companies, but he’s less well known to us and he has limited fund management experience currently. We’ve already met him and will continue to get to know him as an investor over the coming months.

Apart from Kevin Murphy leaving the team in 2024, the Value team has remained relatively stable. We view this as a collegiate, capable and experienced team with a strong investment philosophy and disciplined investment process.

The fund uses a distinct value and contrarian investment approach which means it can look quite different to its benchmark at times. With an approach like this, a high degree of philosophical alignment is necessary between the managers.

At present, our conviction in this fund is based on Kirrage’s skill set, capabilities and experience. Therefore, the fund remains on the Wealth Shortlist based on Kirrage’s continued involvement.

This isn’t a recommendation to make any changes to a portfolio. Investors should make sure any investments match their investment goals and attitude to risk. If you're not sure if an investment is suitable for your circumstances, please seek advice.
