(Sharecast News) - Managed services business Westminster Group said on Monday that it has secured two new "significant" contract awards totalling £680,000.

Westminster said the first contract award will see it provide a Parliamentary Broadcast System to an East African Parliament, while the second contract award was for a worldwide broadcaster to provide advanced security screening systems to their UK operations.

Chief executive Peter Fowler said: "The East African Parliament contract, which our teams have been pursuing on for some time, is located in one of our target countries and offers considerable scope for our services. To have secured this prestigious contract for the country's parliament is an accolade to our global reach and reputation. This contract is just the initial part of what we expect to be an even larger final project and is expected to be completed this calendar year.

"The worldwide broadcaster has operations all around the world and security of their premises and personnel is of paramount importance to them. Given Westminster's extensive portfolio of equipment and services, together with our global operations, we believe there is considerable potential for additional business with this important new customer."

As of 1050 BST, Westminster shares were untraded at 2.20p.
