(Sharecast News) - United Oil & Gas said on Wednesday that preparations were underway for the mobilisation of a survey vessel ahead of its planned offshore exploration programme in Jamaica, as it moved forward with basin de-risking activities on the Walton Morant Licence.
The AIM-traded oil and gas company said contractor TDI-Brooks International had completed its current work programme and that the survey vessel R/V Gyre was now undertaking pre-mobilisation preparations in Trinidad.
TDI-Brooks had advised that the vessel was expected to start mobilisation during the coming week for United's offshore piston coring and surface geochemical survey offshore Jamaica.
United said the offshore programme would comprise multibeam echo sounder mapping, heat-flow measurements and the collection of seabed piston cores.
The work was designed to confirm the presence of thermogenic hydrocarbons and further de-risk the Walton Morant basin.
It said it continued to work closely with TDI-Brooks and the relevant Jamaican authorities in advance of mobilisation, and that a further update would be provided once the vessel departed Trinidad and was en route to Jamaica.
"We are pleased that the R/V Gyre has completed its prior survey programme and is now preparing to mobilise for United," said chief executive Brian Larkin.
"We continue to work closely with TDI-Brooks and the relevant authorities as we move toward mobilisation, and we look forward to providing a further update once the vessel departs Trinidad."
At 1329 GMT, shares in United Oil & Gas were down 3.45% at 0.14p.
